Work underway to install modal filters

As part of the Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) in South Leytonstone, which launched on 8 October 2020, work is currently underway installing modal filters at 11 locations in the area.

The work will take approximately one week to complete and involves installing large planters and bollards at the 11 locations to restrict access for motorised vehicles, while still allowing enough space for pedestrians and cyclists to travel through them. Click here to view the modal filter locations .

When the modal filters are installed, all addresses will continue to be accessible for residents, visitors, deliveries, etc however the way you reach your property via your usual routes may change. Some of the modal filters will include lockable bollards to be used by emergency services should they need to.

These works are part of the temporary scheme for the area, which aims to create people friendly streets with less traffic, noise and pollution, that are safe and more pleasant to use.

Thank you for your patience while we complete the work. All construction related enquiries can be emailed to us at enjoy@walthamforest.gov.uk.
